Some Photos from the KL Open

Yup, the KL Open has now come to an end. Congratulations to the winners (and all the participants). We celebrated Merdeka (Independence Day) together in the right spirit!

The final standings can be seen at http://www.chess-results.com/tnr185296.aspx?lan=1 (Open) and http://www.chess-results.com/tnr185297.aspx?lan=1 (U-16).

Below are a few photos I managed to take:

I would like to place on record the hard work of the many who are part of the KLCA council, officially (and also unofficially!) who worked extremely hard to make the event a success.

Despite being new to this, both Tournament Director Ng Ling Gee and KLCA Hon. Secretary Amirul Mohamad deserve special mention. Unless you have organised before you will have no idea how much work is involved!

Shireen Ding helped enormously at the event itself, Zaidan Zulkipli proved to be a good Master of Ceremonies, and I am very grateful for the help given by my assistant arbiters.

Finally my personal thanks to Lim Tse Pin, MCF Ratings Officer, who not only responded to all requests as to issuing of new FIDE IDs and registering the event in a timely fashion, but clearly had made a special effort to facilitate.
