KLCA & MCF

The KL Chess Association met recently - amongst several matters we discussed the sad state of affairs with MCF where they still had no updates on their website (except one by MCF Council Member Yeap Joo Hock either sarcastically or dutifully but wrongly reporting on his President's title appointment) and more importantly the fact that we had not been informed of recent national events, something which is rather serious and probably which would be taken up by one of the several affected states as players had been deprived of the opportunity to participate.

Notwithstanding we are not political - only demanding that our rights as a member in good standing be fully respected - and in fact the council agreed that talking to the MCF Hon. Secretary was a waste of time as his words could not be relied on and so we would be writing instead reminding that we needed to be informed accordingly.

It could be the power of copying all or that even those who run MCF realise that they may have gone too far but we have now gotten a correct and proper response from MCF in a timely fashion and for that I congratulate them - we do however reserve all rights should we again be kept out of this basic information loop again as we need to be able to serve our membership - of course the earlier verbal overtures from the current MCF leadership (foremost from the MCF Hon. Secretary) was noted but rejected as we have no interest or need for positions or favours, only for professionalism and support in our chess promotion and development (we don't expect anything but do not want barriers).

On behalf of KLCA I should also clearly state our current position clearly with regards MCF and the coming election which is that we support no one, if we eventually do so for anyone it will be because the coming leadership whether the old or new will be able to show that they can benefit KLCA.

Many of us in KLCA have also been approached by parties eager to take over MCF and while I stand by my position as stated here: http://www.thefidetrainer.com/2014/10/all-must-go.html and here: http://www.thefidetrainer.com/2014/11/no-transparency-in-mcf-rent-seeking.html, and as KLCA I was obligated to listen to all, I do not for a moment think that any of these compromised parties are going to bring about the changes so much needed for Malaysian chess because time and time again when put to the test their promises have fallen well short and like the current MCF their modus operandi is to continue to try and take us for fools on a repeat basis.
